NICE Road Barriers

The NICE Road Barrier range provides professional electromechanical vehicle-access control for residential communities, commercial buildings, corporate offices, hotels, parking facilities and industrial entrances. The compact NICE S-Bar is designed for boom arms up to approximately 4 m and uses a 24 VDC gearmotor with integrated control electronics. NICE specifies a robust steel structure, elliptical boom designed to withstand wind loads and balancing springs rated for approximately 500,000 cycles. Safety and operational features include obstacle detection through motor-current monitoring, automatic fault diagnostics, support for optical or 8.2 kΩ resistive safety edges, concealed photocell mounting, stand-by energy-saving operation and optional battery backup during mains failure. The controller is compatible with NICE technologies including BlueBUS, BiDi, Yubii, Solemyo and Opera, while current systems can also be programmed using compatible NICE professional configuration tools. An optional integrated flashing light and manual side release further support safe operation and servicing. For medium and large entrances, NICE M-Bar covers boom lengths from approximately 3 to 7 m and uses a 24 VDC gearmotor with integrated control unit, encoder movement control and electromechanical limit switches. Depending on the version, NICE specifies opening speeds ranging from approximately 1.5–4 seconds for M3BAR, 3–6 seconds for M5BAR and 6–10 seconds for M7BAR, with intensive-duty capacities up to 500, 350 and 200 cycles per hour respectively; the platform also supports master/slave operation for opposing barriers, loop-detector interfaces, concealed photocells, optional traffic-light/flashing-light integration and battery backup. The larger NICE L-Bar is intended for 7–9 m booms and uses a 24 VDC motor with encoder, an integrated modular control unit and heavy-duty balancing springs rated for up to approximately 3 million cycles. NICE’s current L9BAR specification provides a passage of almost 9 m, around 150 cycles per hour, 400 Nm maximum torque and IP54 protection. Both M-Bar and L-Bar are available in finishes including painted steel and AISI 304 stainless steel, with newer ranges also offered in orange, white and grey, allowing the barrier to suit different architectural environments.
