Vanderbilt VR20M-MF NGCR MIFARE EV1 Mullion Reader

The Vanderbilt VR20M-MF NGCR MIFARE EV1 Mullion Reader is a slim, modern access control card reader designed for installations where limited mounting space and professional appearance are important. Part of Vanderbilt’s New Generation Card Reader (NGCR) family, the VR20M-MF supports MIFARE Classic, MIFARE PLUS (UID), MIFARE DESFire EV1 and MIFARE DESFire EV2 credential technologies, with a card reading distance of up to approximately 6 cm. Its narrow mullion design measures approximately 50 × 130 × 22 mm, making it suitable for aluminium door frames, glass-door entrances, office partitions and other compact mounting locations. The VR20M-MF is engineered for reliable operation in demanding indoor and outdoor access control environments. It supports both OSDP and Wiegand connectivity, with RS485/Wiegand interfaces for integration with compatible access control controllers, while operating from an 8.5–30 VDC power supply. Integrated tamper protection helps identify unauthorized removal or interference with the reader. For surface-mounted applications, the reader is specified with an IP55 environmental rating, IK08 impact resistance, an operating temperature range from -40°C to +70°C and 5–95% non-condensing humidity tolerance. Its housing combines a zinc-cast metal bezel with a durable polycarbonate front, providing a balance of modern design and physical protection. Vanderbilt also notes that the VR20M-MF can read Vanderbilt-encoded data from compatible DESFire EV3 credentials, providing additional flexibility for credential migration and system upgrades.
