The Gunnebo SlimStile BA Tripod Turnstile is a compact and cost-effective pedestrian entrance-control solution developed for offices, banks, government buildings, educational facilities, data centres, telecommunications sites and other locations with continuous pedestrian traffic. Its 304-grade stainless-steel casework and polished stainless-steel tripod arms provide a durable architectural finish, while the electromechanical mechanism allows electronically controlled passage in one or both directions. SlimStile BA can operate in Normally Closed (N/C) mode, remaining locked until valid authorization is received, or Normally Open (N/O) mode, where the mechanism locks only when an unauthorized attempt occurs; Gunnebo notes that N/O operation can reduce power consumption and improve mechanism life and throughput. Depending on reader technology, approximate throughput ranges from 20 persons/minute with insertion readers and 30 with swipe readers to 40 persons/minute with proximity/hands-free readers. The system includes LED Way Mode indicators, self-centering operation, anti-backup protection and a hydraulic damper for smooth rotation, while reliability is rated at approximately 10 million cycles—or 12 million cycles in Normally Open configuration. Electrical specifications include 230 VAC/50 Hz or 115 VAC/60 Hz, 50 VA rated power, 5 VA standby in N/O mode, IP44 protection and operation from approximately -5°C to +50°C. The SlimStile BA is available in pedestal-mounted or wall-mounted versions, making it particularly useful where entrance space is limited. It can be equipped with card-reader mounting, pictograms, an LCD passage counter, remote MP2000 control, push-button operation and an automatic drop-arm option. During a power failure or emergency signal, one or both directions can be configured as fail-safe for free rotation or fail-lock in the home position; where the drop-arm option is fitted, the horizontal arm automatically lowers to create an unobstructed evacuation path. The controller provides separate opening/locking inputs for each direction, outputs for Way Mode indicators and passage counting, and RS485 serial communication for integration with compatible systems. A related economical model, the SlimStile BA Lite, uses the same compact tripod concept but is pedestal-mounted and uses a simpler undamped mechanism; it retains up to approximately 40 passages per minute with proximity readers, IP44 protection, LED indication and emergency/free-rotation options. This allows VEGA Digital to use the standard SlimStile BA where smoother controlled operation and more configuration options are required, or BA Lite for more cost-sensitive installations.
