Overview
The HID Mercury MP1502 Intelligent Controller is a high-performance, open-architecture access controller designed for enterprise access-control systems that require strong local processing, flexible reader support, and room for future expansion. It natively supports up to 4 readers and 2 controlled openings, with 8 supervised inputs and 4 Form-C relay outputs, and can expand through downstream RS-485 modules to manage as many as 64 readers/openings. The MP1502 supports approximately 240,000 cardholders and a 500,000-event transaction buffer, together with advanced access-control functions such as anti-passback, activation/deactivation schedules, programmable macros, multiple access levels, elevator and turnstile applications, and support for OSDP, Wiegand, biometric readers, keypads, magnetic stripe, clock/data and F/2F reader technologies. Cybersecurity features include secure boot, cryptographic hardware, data-at-rest encryption, IPv4/IPv6, TLS 1.2/1.3, AES-128/256, 802.1X and FIPS 140-3 use of OpenSSL, making it suitable for modern corporate, data-centre and high-security environments. The broader Mercury MP Intelligent Controller family provides different capacities for projects ranging from individual doors to large enterprise campuses. The Mercury MP1501 is a compact PoE+ single-opening controller that natively supports 2 readers and can expand to 17 readers/openings, making it ideal for distributed single-door deployments where PoE+ can power the controller, reader, lock and accessories from one network connection. The Mercury MP2500 is designed as a high-capacity intelligent controller without onboard reader I/O; it supports around 600,000 cardholders, up to 32 downstream RS-485 expansion modules, and as many as 64 readers/openings, making it well suited for centrally engineered multi-door systems. At the top of the range, the Mercury MP4502 natively supports 4 readers and 2 openings, scales to 64 access points, supports approximately 2 million cardholders, and adds advanced capabilities such as BACnet/IP, elevator destination dispatch, power-management analytics and High Assurance Credential Authentication. This allows system designers to standardize on Mercury’s open architecture while selecting the most appropriate controller for each building, door group or security level.
