Overview
The WatchNET ENX-256HDR2 is an enterprise-class 256-channel, 4U Network Video Recorder designed for very large CCTV installations requiring centralized recording, high storage capacity, RAID protection and multi-display monitoring. It uses an Intel quad-core processor with embedded Linux, supports up to 256 IP camera channels and provides up to 450 Mbps incoming recording bandwidth. The recorder supports camera resolutions up to 12 MP, H.265/H.264/MJPEG/MPEG4 compression, and provides 3 HDMI plus 1 VGA output, with up to 36-way multiscreen display and decoding capability of up to 24 channels at 1080p/30 fps. Storage is one of its major strengths: the ENX-256HDR2 accommodates 24 SAS/SATA HDDs, each supporting up to 10 TB according to WatchNET's specification, together with RAID 0/1/5/6/10, global hot-spare support, hot-swappable drives and SAS 3.0 expansion. Network architecture includes four Gigabit RJ-45 ports with independent-port, load-balancing, fault-tolerance and link-aggregation modes, with optional four Gigabit optical-fibre interfaces. It also provides 16 alarm inputs, 8 relay outputs, audio input/output, USB 2.0/3.0, eSATA and redundant hot-swappable power architecture, making it suitable for hospitals, hotels, airports, shopping centres, industrial facilities, campuses, logistics sites and other enterprise surveillance projects. VEGA Digital IT Solutions LLC, as a SIRA-approved CCTV/security solutions provider in Dubai and an organized WatchNET supplier and system integrator across the UAE, can deploy the ENX-256HDR2 as the central recording platform for large WatchNET CCTV systems. For Dubai projects, however, the exact recorder model and firmware should only be described as SIRA Approved after confirmation against the current SIRA Recorder/VMS approval record, because SIRA requires a separate approval process for each security device or system. The related WatchNET ENX-128HD provides a slightly smaller enterprise recording platform for systems requiring up to 128 IP camera channels. It uses an Intel quad-core processor with embedded Linux, supports up to 384 Mbps incoming bandwidth, camera resolutions up to 12 MP, 2 HDMI outputs up to 4K plus 1 VGA, four Gigabit Ethernet ports for load balancing, two Gigabit optical-fibre interfaces, and ONVIF camera integration. Storage is provided through 16 SATA III bays with RAID 0/1/5/10, global hot-spare and hot-swap support, while the recorder also includes 16 alarm inputs, 8 relay outputs, RS-232, RS-485, USB and eSATA interfaces. The ENX-256HD2 returns to a 256-channel / 4U architecture and shares many of the ENX-256HDR2's enterprise features, including 450 Mbps bandwidth, 24 SAS/SATA HDD bays, RAID 0/1/5/6/10, SAS 3.0 expansion, 3 HDMI + 1 VGA, four Gigabit Ethernet ports, optional optical-fibre connectivity, hot-swappable drives and ONVIF camera support. It also supports AI analytics from compatible cameras, including face detection and face recognition. In practical terms, the ENX-128HD is well suited to medium-to-large control rooms with up to 128 cameras, while the ENX-256HD2 and ENX-256HDR2 are intended for much larger 256-camera systems where expanded storage, RAID resilience, multi-network connectivity and enterprise rack deployment are required. This enables VEGA Digital to select the appropriate WatchNET recorder architecture based on camera count, bandwidth, recording retention, redundancy and control-room requirements rather than oversizing or undersizing the surveillance platform. For system installation and SIRA-oriented deployment, VEGA Digital first calculates the total camera count, camera resolution and bitrate, required recording days, RAID level, usable storage capacity, HDD quantity, network throughput, failover requirements, monitor outputs, rack space, cooling and UPS runtime. The ENX recorders are then installed in a properly ventilated 19-inch equipment rack, populated with enterprise-grade surveillance HDDs and configured with the appropriate RAID and hot-spare policy. Managed core switches and dedicated CCTV VLANs are used to separate camera traffic, while the recorder's multiple Gigabit interfaces can be configured for load balancing, fault tolerance or link aggregation; fibre uplinks can be introduced for large buildings or distributed surveillance networks. VEGA Digital then configures camera streams, H.265/H.264 recording, continuous and event schedules, alarm inputs/outputs, user permissions, smart search, NTP time synchronization, storage health monitoring, remote access, playback, export, backup and cybersecurity controls.
